Overview
The TAMM Design Bureau is the engineering nerve-centre of the Tbilisi plant. It owns the path from clean-sheet design to flight-ready hardware, and it carries the institutional knowledge of every airframe that has come off the line since the 1970s.
The bureau handles three kinds of work: bespoke airframe variants and clean-sheet designs (the T-31 UCAV being the current in-house programme); systems integration on existing airframes — avionics, weapons, sensors, self-protection; and engineering problems that fall outside the standard production line, including custom solutions for state operators and allied partners.
Whatever the work, the bureau operates in the same building as the workshop floor. Every design decision is made within walking distance of the people who will build it.
Scope
What this line delivers.
Scope is scoped programme by programme. The list opposite is the full set of work currently available under this capability.
- Clean-sheet airframe and systems design
- Bespoke variant development for state operators
- Third-party subsystem integration · avionics, weapons, sensors
- Reverse engineering and reverse certification
- Interface control documents and wiring diagrams
- Bench-test rigs and ground-test instrumentation
- Engineering support to modernisation and restoration programmes
- Custom solutions outside the standard production line
How we deliver
The process.
Four phases. Every programme runs the same sequence, scoped to the airframe or system in question.
Concept
Operator requirements, mission analysis, configuration trade studies, and feasibility against the Tbilisi production envelope.
Design
Detailed engineering across airframe, systems, avionics and integration. Interface control documents authored in-house.
Validation
Bench-test, ground-test, and structural verification before any flight-test activity.
Deliver
Programme handed to the workshop floor for manufacture, modernisation or integration as appropriate.
